Kabyle (Taqbaylit) belongs to the Northern Berber group of the Afro-Asiatic language family. The name of the language is reportedly derived from the Arabic word for “tribesman”. The Kabyle-speaking areas of Algeria include the provinces of Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa and Bouïra.
